When is the best time to do a maternity photography session?
The ideal time for maternity photos is typically between 28–34 weeks of pregnancy. Your belly is beautifully rounded, and you’re usually still feeling comfortable enough to move, walk, and enjoy the experience. If you’re expecting twins or have specific comfort considerations, we can absolutely adjust timing – just reach out and we’ll plan what works best for you.
Where do maternity photography sessions take place?
Maternity sessions can take place outdoors, in-home, or in a studio-style setting, depending on the season and the overall feel you’re drawn to. I photograph maternity sessions throughout Burlington, Hamilton, Oakville, Milton, and surrounding Southern Ontario areas, and I’ll help guide you toward locations that feel natural, timeless, and true to your story.
What should I wear for my maternity photo session?
Styling support is included with every maternity session – because figuring out outfits while pregnant can feel like a full-time job. I’ll guide you through wardrobe options and help you choose pieces that photograph beautifully, feel comfortable, and flatter your changing body. You’re never expected to figure this out alone.
Do you offer a client closet for maternity sessions?
Yes. I offer access to a curated client closet featuring maternity-friendly dresses and pieces designed to photograph beautifully. You’re also welcome to wear your own clothing – the goal is never “one right look,” but helping you feel confident and like yourself during your session.
Can my partner or children be included in the maternity session?
Absolutely. Your maternity session can include your partner and children, creating space for connection and real moments as your family grows. I’ll gently guide things so everyone feels comfortable – no forced smiles, no pressure for kids to “behave perfectly.”
I’m nervous and don’t feel very confident in front of the camera. Is that okay?
More than okay – it’s incredibly common. My approach is calm, guided, and natural, with gentle prompts rather than stiff posing. You don’t need to know what to do or how to stand. I’ll take care of the direction so you can simply be present in the moment.
Do you retouch maternity photos?
Yes. All final images are professionally edited in my signature, timeless style. This includes natural retouching such as gentle skin smoothing, colour correction, and subtle refinements that keep everything looking real and true to you – just softly polished and beautifully lit.
If you’re requesting more extensive retouching, such as body modification or advanced alterations beyond my standard editing approach, this is available for an additional fee. I’m always happy to chat through requests ahead of time so expectations feel clear and comfortable.
How long does it take to receive my maternity photos?
Gallery delivery times vary by package.
Heirloom clients receive priority delivery and receive their final gallery within 10 days.
Keepsake clients receive their proofing gallery within 3 weeks
Timeless clients receive their proofing gallery within 4 weeks.
All galleries are delivered through an online gallery, and you can order wall art directly.
Heirloom clients also receive a guided 1-hour print ordering session to help get your favourites off a hard drive and onto your walls.
How do i book a maternity photography session?
To book, simply reach out through the contact form and I’ll walk you through availability, next steps, and planning your session. From styling support to final image delivery, everything is thoughtfully guided so you can relax and enjoy the experience.
How far in advance should I book my maternity photographer?
Most clients book their maternity session early in the second trimester to ensure availability, especially for weekend dates or outdoor sessions. If you’re further along, it never hurts to ask – I’ll always do my best to accommodate when possible.
